Kaishin —> Open Mind

For my reflection, I wanna talk about a time where I lacked Kaishin. As I said earlier in this course at the beginning of my karate journey I was solely focused on being better than my brothers. The second my brother Aneeshan had got his yellow belt and green belt before me my mind was solely focused on getting ahead of him rather than having an open mind of bettering me and bettering others. Rather than having to open mind of truly striving for perfection within my technique I had a closed mind where I only had one goal and that one goal was to out rank my brother. As soon as I started to grow that Kaishin and as I started to have more of an open mind in my training where I decided that being ahead of my brother was not the only thing that mattered it allowed me to grow and allowed me to connect with my training more. I feel that as I continue to grow in karate I continue to grow my open mind and that is what helps me learn more from other advanced belts and Karate-ka ultimately helping me through my training.
