Assignment #5
Add/write 3 Kanji to your scene. Any style, size or direction. If you have already added Kanji, add 3 more regardless.
Post a thought pertaining to Zen. Either your own original thought or sharing your thoughts on another's comment.
Karate-Do training is not limited to physical development. In fact, half of one's training is mental. This part of your training (Zen course) allows for a great degree of mental development through a better understanding into the mind of other and fellow Karate-Ka along with expanding our skill set in the form of Japanese Calligraphy which is parallel to Karate-Do in many ways.

This is a quote I found about Zen. "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment."
What this means to me is that to truly be Zen you shouldn't think about what happened in the past or what will happen in the future but instead, think about what is happening now, at this moment. Be aware of everything that is happening around you in the present. This applies to karate as well because to be a good karate ka I have to be focused on what I am doing in the present moment.
